Apple continues to lead the technology world in 2024, as it does every year. One of the most striking innovations introduced at the WWDC 2024 event was Apple Intelligence . Apple Intelligence is a feature set that includes Apple's next-generation artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies. This set aims to make users' devices smarter and more personal. Apple Intelligence analyzes user habits, makes personalized recommendations, and makes daily life easier.

Apple Intelligence has added new AI features and functionality to Siri, giving it the ChatGPT touch. The feature, which was unveiled at Apple’s WWDC 2024 event, is the company’s response to Silicon Valley’s current AI obsession.

With Google and Microsoft increasing their emphasis on AI at their recent annual conferences, it’s no surprise that Apple is following suit. Apple Intelligence claims that the company will set “new standards in privacy” in AI as it introduces a “personal intelligence system” for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It’s no coincidence that Apple is being more careful about Microsoft’s announcement of powerful AI features, especially with features like “Private Cloud Computing.”

Apple Intelligence aims to prevent third parties from learning about your data by keeping AI processes in a secure circuit between your Apple device and the company’s own servers. The first products of this technology will be language-focused models to help with writing and editing, and a set of app-independent ‘Writing Tools’.

Apple Intelligence is the foundation of Siri, making it a much more intuitive voice assistant. Siri now offers ChatGPT integration across new operating systems, without a ChatGPT account. All new operating systems, including the latest version of Apple’s desktop operating system MacOS Sequoia , iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and watchOS 11, will include these innovations.

With Apple Intelligence, the Mail app will be able to scan and highlight key details like dates and times, while notifications will be smartly organized in a similar fashion. In the Notes app, a new voice transcription feature will be introduced, alongside creative AI-powered tools such as Image Playground for visual expression.

Much like Google's Pixel lineup, iPadOS 18 will also offer a background object removal tool. Additionally, the new Memories feature will curate the best photos and videos based on a user's description and transform them into a cinematic story.

Apple has doubled down on its commitment to the Vision Pro headset, announcing an upgraded visionOS 2 alongside the device’s expansion into East Asia, Australia, and parts of Europe. At the same time, the Apple Watch received a health-centric update with the new Vitals app, and watchOS 11 now offers layered data customization for a more personalized display.

In this new era, as tech giants weave AI deeper into every facet of our digital lives, features like smart replies, AI-generated summaries, and voice transcriptions are becoming the norm.

Technology, once a tool to master and manipulate, is evolving. The new generation of Smart OS won’t just guide you — it will monitor your heart rate, remind you to buy milk, filter your calls, and edit your writing.

The question is no longer what can AI do? but are we ready to hand over our expertise to a machine that’s always one step ahead — and powered by the knowledge of the crowd?
