Valentino’s New Sensory Experience: L’Atelier Sonore

Sometimes, silence can express what words never could. Imagine a place where sound is intricately crafted, textures deepen the emotional experience, and the act of listening is redefined. With L’Atelier Sonore, located inside its Madison Avenue flagship in New York, Valentino offers exactly that — a timeless and sophisticated connection between fashion and music.

Luxury, Now Audible

In recent years, the rising listening room culture has transformed music from a mere background element into a central, intentional experience. From London to Milan, Tokyo to Istanbul, this cultural movement has found momentum across the globe — and now, one of its most striking expressions carries the signature of Valentino. Since Alessandro Michele took over as creative director in 2024, Valentino’s aesthetic universe has expanded well beyond traditional fashion boundaries. L’Atelier Sonore is one of the most intimate reflections of this evolution. Designed in collaboration with the Terraforma collective, the space is not just a listening room — it is an emotional, architectural, and sonic sanctuary.

The Shared Language of Craftsmanship and Sound

Valentino’s latest venture feels like a quiet rebellion against the culture of surface-level consumption. Designed by architect Francesco Lupia, the space is built around three core elements: a custom-made sound system, a multifunctional console reminiscent of traditional cabinet-making, and modular seating upholstered in velvet cushions. Floor-to-ceiling heavy curtains, carefully veneered wood surfaces, and retro-futuristic forms reflect an artisanal touch in every detail of the room. This is a space that speaks not only to the senses, but also to the mind. Here, Valentino isn’t just dressing bodies — it’s dressing the soul.

The Elegance of Curation with Terraforma

Launched on May 15, 2025, L’Atelier Sonore opened its doors with a 10-hour special music program. Throughout the event, renowned artists and musicians — including Laraaji, Laurel Halo, Lea Bertucci, Kevin Beasley, Veronica Vasicka, and Chuquimamani-Condori — hosted 45-minute listening sessions, playing vinyl records from their personal archives. But these sessions were more than just about music. Between tracks, each artist shared stories, allowing emotions to fill the space and transforming sound into something deeper. Curated by Terraforma, this program wasn’t merely a launch — it was a ritual.

Meditation Among the Records

L’Atelier Sonore will remain open to the public until the end of August 2025. This intimate space, accessible daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, will be filled with carefully selected vinyl records playing throughout the day. Occasional special listening sessions—enriched by Valentino’s creative friends—will further elevate the experience. It’s a destination as captivating for music lovers as it is for fashion enthusiasts, where every note you hear is intertwined with the textures you see. L’Atelier Sonore is not meant to be consumed — it’s meant to be lived.

Today, listening rooms are being positioned as the new wine cellars or private art galleries of a refined generation. They offer more than just technically flawless sound systems — they create sensory sanctuaries, spaces for inner retreat and contemplation. Valentino embraces this very vision: merging high fashion with cultural sensitivity. L’Atelier Sonore is not an experience designed for everyone who can simply hear music — it’s crafted for those who dare to truly listen.
